The FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, has called on those erecting giant congratulatory billboards in Abuja in his honour to refrain from doing so, but to channel such funds into ventures that have direct impact on the citizenry.
The Minister made this call in a Press Statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary, Tony Ogunleye in Abujq, Sunday.
According to the statement, the Minister acknowledged and appreciated the overwhelming public goodwill, which greeted his appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The statement added, “The attention of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, has been drawn to lamp post billboards, full scale billboards and other such adverts congratulating him on his appointment as Minister.”
While the Minister deeply appreciates the warm wishes and support of the citizens, he requested that such billboards and advertisements be discontinued forthwith.

The statement said: “However, in the spirit of public service and commitment to his responsibilities, the Minister wishes to focus his full attention on assisting the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in realizing his vision and renewed hope agenda for Nigeria”.
It further explains that the duty of the Minister lies in contributing to the development of the FCT and the well-being of its residents and the nation as a whole.
